Instagram cares about its users and strives to reduce customer dissatisfaction and the number of complaints to technical support by minimizing content theft. To achieve this, developers have completely removed the ability to copy text under publications. But there are always tricks and workarounds. If you liked any author’s signature, you can safely copy the text from the post on Instagram from your phone. To learn the secrets, read the article.
Copying text from posts on Instagram
If you need to copy text from Instagram, know that it is possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s your own post or someone else’s, there is a way for each case.
All you need for this is:
- 5 minutes of free time;
- a smartphone or tablet;
- the official social network application;
- a mobile browser;
- a registered Instagram account;
- a document where you can paste the caption.
If you have all of this, let’s get down to business.
From my publications
First, let’s see how to “extract” text from your posts on Instagram. It’s very simple, you need to:
- Launch the Instasety mobile app.
- Log in to your account using your standard login (username/email address/phone number) and password.
- Click on the “person” icon and go to your profile.
- Tap on a suitable post and click on the functional button in the form of three dots in the upper right corner.
- Click “Edit”.
- Hold down any word for 2-3 seconds and select the fragment to save it to the clipboard.
- Select “Copy”.
- Exit the program and open a document.
- Paste the words that were copied from Instagram.
Done. The sentences you need are highlighted.
Useful to know. Instead of a document, the “extracted” text can be inserted and sent as a message on VKontakte.
From other public pages
It’s also easy to borrow information from someone else’s post. The algorithm is as follows:
- Go to Instagram and log in to your account.
- Scroll down to the post you like in your feed.
- Click on the “three dots” to open the context menu.
- Select “Copy Link”.
- Launch your mobile browser and paste the address into the URL bar.
- Confirm the request.
- Select the area to save and copy it.
- Paste the fragments into your document.
Note that this method also allows you to copy comments to your clipboard.
How to copy text from an Instagram post
Methods also vary depending on the devices you use. Namely:
- for Android;
- for iPhone;
- for personal computer or laptop.
Let’s take a closer look at each of them.
On an Android device
If you have an Android smartphone, you can borrow text publications using the Telegram messenger. To do this, you will need to:
- Go to the Instagram app and copy the link to the post through the context menu (“three dots”).
- Open Telegram and log in to your account.
- Type “@instasavegrambot” in the search bar for contacts and click “Search”.
- Click on the dialogue with the bot and confirm the start of the chat with the corresponding button.
- Paste the link to the post from the social network into the dialogue box.
- Send the message.
- Wait for the response (it will come in a few seconds).
- Hold down the text with a touch to select it.
- Copy and save it.
On an iPhone device
If you have an “apple” iPhone, you can use a similar method. Or install a special utility on your device – Universal Copy. It allows you to extract captions not only from Instagram, but also from Facebook and even Twitter. To work with it, follow these steps:
- Launch the program and click on the “Universal Copy” slider.
- Open the settings and enable the “Universal Copy” special feature. It tracks any text on social networks.
- Go to Instagram and scroll through the feed to the post you like.
- Swipe down to open the tool panel and tap “Enable Universal Copy mode.”
- Hold down the text and select the area to copy in the pop-up window.
Done. Optionally, share the text in a message via the “Share” button.
Useful to know. Universal Copy is available not only in the AppStore, but also in the Google Market.
On the computer
Developers have blocked the ability to copy on mobile versions only, so Instagram works fully on a computer. To “extract” a caption from a photo or video, you need to:
- Open a browser and go to the desktop version of Instagram.
- Login to your account.
- Find an interesting post in your feed.
- Select the fragment to save by holding down the left mouse button.
- Tap the Ctrl+C combination (copy).
- Open a document or message in VK and click Ctrl+V (paste).
In this way, you can copy anything through a PC: posts, comments, personal profile information, etc.

If you don’t have the ability to save posts and comments on your phone and don’t want to complicate things, take note of two popular online services:
- Webstagram;
