How to change the payment card in Instagram for advertising: all methods

As it is known, advertising is necessary for improving sales and increasing the number of regular customers. If you have a business account on the social network Instagram, then you are lucky – you can order advertising posts directly in the application. But how do you add or change the payment method in Instagram for the marketing direction you have chosen? Or how do you delete the account altogether if the plastic card has served its purpose? Let’s take a closer look at this.

Ways of paying for advertising on Instagram

To pay for advertising, a synchronized Facebook account will be required. To link it to Instagram, you will need to:

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Click on “Company”.
  3. Click on “Promotion Payments”.
  4. Authorize your Facebook profile.

Afterwards, you will be able to choose one of the payment methods.

These can be:

  • PayPal payment system;
  • Regular bank credit or debit card;
  • QIWI virtual wallet.

Useful to know. The PayPal payment system allows you to settle debts using only an email address and password.

Setting up advertising accounts through Facebook

To manage your advertising accounts on Facebook and Instagram, you need to:

  1. Authorize on the official FB website.
  2. Add a payment card.
  3. Set up billing – the amount of funds that the site will not deduct (when automatic deductions are made).
  4. Go to the “Settings” tab and the “Payments” section – “Accounts”.

Done. You now have a list of marketing debts for your company. Here you can manually select any check and pay it with your linked card or wallet.

If you want to see all the connected credit cards, then:

  1. Go back to “Payments”.
  2. Tap on the “Account Settings” tab and the hyperlink “Accounts for payment”.

How to unlink an old and link a new card in Facebook

Now let’s move on to the main question of this article: how to unlink a card from Instagram through Facebook. This can be done through:

  • personal smartphone;
  • personal computer;

Let’s consider each of these options in more detail, devoting a separate section to each of them.

Over the phone

To remove a card from a social network using a mobile device, you will need:

  1. Go to the main Facebook webpage. This can be done through the Insta app in “Payments for promotion.”
  2. Log in to your page. Use your standard login (mobile phone number) and password.
  3. Tap “Settings” – “Payments.”
  4. Select the “Account Settings” section and scroll down to the “Payment Methods” column.
  5. Determine the credit card to be deleted and click “Delete.”

Done. If desired, you can immediately add a new payment system in the same column. To do this:

  1. Click on “Connect Debit Card.”
  2. Enter the details: number, expiration date, CVC2 code.
  3. Save.

Through the computer

To unlink a card from Facebook via a personal computer, you need to do almost the same thing as through a mobile phone. Namely:

  1. Login to the Facebook social network website.
  2. Click on “Settings” – “Payments” – “Payment Accounts”. This will open Ads Manager.
  3. Click on the “gear” icon and go to the “Payment Settings” section.
  4. Find the card you want to get rid of in the “Methods” column and click on the “Remove” button.
  5. Tap “Add Payment Method” if you need to connect a new system.
  6. Enter the required details for this type of payment.
  7. Confirm the changes.
  8. Done.

Something went wrong – contacting Facebook technical support

Sometimes it happens that the social network system does not allow you to unlink an old card. What could be the reason? Most often it is:

  • prepaid advertising publications for the month (wait for the end of the posts and calmly delete the wallet);
  • debt on bills with zero credit card balance (pay off the checks by replenishing the balance);
  • technical system error.

In the latter case, you need to restart the browser. If this does not help, contact Facebook support. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Take a screenshot of the problem.
  2. Go to the main FB page.
  3. Click on the icon with a question mark in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. Select “Report a problem” at the bottom.
  5. Click on “Something isn’t working”.
  6. Choose a category from the list and describe what went wrong.
  7. Attach a screenshot.
  8. Click “Send”.
