Instagram delights its users with good and quite rich functionality. With the help of the social network, clients can exchange photos, stories, and even mention friends in publications. It is precisely the latter option that we will talk about. It is important to know how to tag followers in comments on Instagram. This will come in handy for promoting your profile, participating in flash mobs or contests, as well as for the follower to see your message.
How to tag friends in comments on Instagram from your phone
To add friend’s usernames on Instagram photos, it doesn’t take much effort. Let’s see how to do it on two different phones with operating systems:
- Android;
- iOS.
On Android
If you want to tag a friend in the comments under a news feed on an Android smartphone, you need to follow a simple algorithm:
- Unlock your gadget’s screen and launch the Instagram app.
- Login to your account using your username (nickname/email address/mobile number) and password.
- Go to the post where you plan to create a mention.
- Open the comments by clicking on the dialogue cloud icon.
- Tap on “Add text” and write a question or address to the subscriber.
- After that, put the @ symbol and specify the nickname without spacing. For example, @username.
- Click on the “Publish” button.
If everything was done correctly, the added profile link will become clickable.
Note. While typing the nickname, the system will suggest suitable “description” subscribers at the top of the screen.
On iPhone
On an iPhone, everything is done in a similar way. The only difference that may confuse you is the different placement of icons in the social network app. Usually, in most versions, the interface is practically identical.
If the above method does not suit you, use the special “Reply” button. Its mandatory condition is that the user you plan to tag in the photo on Instagram must leave a comment under the publication. If this is done, then do the following:
- Log in to Instagram and authorize on your account.
- Open the appropriate post in the feed and scroll down to the desired comment.
- Tap the “Reply” button. After that, “@username” will automatically appear in the text field.
- Write a message and publish it.
This way you can only address one person. To leave feedback to another, you will have to do the same thing again.
Important. After you tag a user in a post, they will receive a corresponding notification and will be able to click on it to go to your publication.
How to tag multiple friends at once
If you need to address several followers in a post, use the first method described in our article. Alternatively, take a simpler route and tag your friends directly in the photo. To do this:
- Log in to your social network and open the post for tagging.
- Click on the functional button (“three dots”) and tap on the “Edit” option.
- Click on “Tag People” and press any part of the photo.
- Type in the user’s nickname and select them from the suggested list.
- Click on any area of the image again and add a second follower.
- Save changes by tapping on the checkmark.
After adding your friends to your photo, the post will appear on their profile.
Note. In addition to participating in various flash mobs or appeals, you can use tagging under a post, for example, to mention a photographer in an Instagram photo. This will be an excellent thank you and promotion for such a professional.
Is it possible to remove marks after publication?
If you changed your mind and want to “withdraw” your comment, it is possible. You will need to go back to the comments section under the post in your feed and click on the text once to delete it.
If you are the user mentioned in the comment and want to get rid of unwanted advertising, you will need to do the following:
- Go to the profile of the user who added your username to the comments.
- Click on the functional button (“three dots”) in the upper right corner of the page.
- Select “Block”.
- Confirm your choice.
Thanks to this, you will stop receiving notifications, but you still won’t be able to get rid of the mentions completely. There is one life hack. If such comments contain insults or prohibited content, complain about the user to technical support. You can do this through the functional button in the profile of the offender.
When you need to remove your nickname from a tagged photo, it’s much easier. You will need to:
- Go to the post with the mention.
- Click on the button with your name.
- Select “Remove me from the publication”.
- Save changes.
Done. Now you will not be displayed in this photo.
