But what do you do if you need to delete an extra photo from the series? In this article, we will explain how to delete one or more photos from the carousel on Instagram on mobile devices and personal computers.
What is an Instagram carousel and can you edit photos in it?
If the account is not private, anyone can view the posts: followers and visitors. Sometimes it is difficult to fit one story or event into one photo, and publishing each image in a separate post is inconvenient and hinders the viewer’s perception.
The solution to this problem is the carousel feature, which allows multiple photos to be included in one post. There is no need to install additional software to create collages or collections, as all of this is provided in the social network interface. Thus, up to ten photos can be included in one post. Viewing is done by swiping and clicking the corresponding arrow on the screen.
The service has introduced a number of restrictions that should be followed to avoid problems with posting information:
- The number of photos in a post should not exceed ten.
- The carousel can display not only photos but also videos. The total duration of the series should not exceed 50 minutes.
As you swipe, short lines will light up on the bottom panel, the number of which corresponds to the number of photos in the post.

All of this opens up a wide range of functional possibilities for the user. After posting the carousel, you can edit it at any time. To do this:
- Launch the mobile app on your smartphone. Log in to the system, providing personal information.
- Go to your personal page on the service.
- Here you will see a list of all the published posts since registration in the social network.
- Find the previously posted photo series and click on it.
- Click on the button in the form of three dots. A pop-up menu will appear.
- Select the post editing item.

On Android
If you own an Android phone, the process of deleting a photo from a series will look like this:
- Turn on the utility on your device and log in with your username and password.
- Go to your personal account by clicking on the silhouette icon.
- In the list of publications, find the carousel you want to edit and click on it.
- Click on the ellipsis button.
- In the new window, select the deletion option.
- After that, repost the series of photos, excluding the unnecessary one.
This is the only way to delete one photo from a carousel; standard tools do not allow you to do this after posting it publicly.
On iPhone
As for mobile devices from Apple with the iOS operating system, the principle of deleting an unnecessary photo from a group will be completely analogous to the algorithm described earlier:
- Launch the application and log in to your account.
- On the personal page, find the desired publication.
- On the top panel, click on the icon in the form of three dots and select the deletion item.
- Completely cancel the post from the feed, and then reload the photos from the internal memory of the smartphone, removing all unnecessary ones.
Can I delete a photo from the carousel on my computer?
You can use the web version of the service on your PC or download the Instagram apk file of the official application for the Windows 10 operating system. In this case, as with mobile devices described earlier, you cannot delete individual photos from the carousel after the post has been published in the news feed.
There is only one way out – to completely remove it from public access and republish it, but without any extra content.
We delete all photos from the carousel at once
As we have found out, the standard tools and functions of the social network Instagram do not allow you to remove one photo from a series separately. You can only delete the entire post, for this:
- Log in to your account with your username and password.
- Go to your personal page on the service.
- In the list of all published posts, find the unnecessary one and click on it.
- Click on the button in the form of three dots.
- An additional menu will appear on the screen, where you need to select the deletion item.
