Saving photos from Instagram to a PC without losing quality

You can save a photo on your computer in good quality without thumbnails and crops using three methods:

• without using third-party utilities;
• using online services;
• by installing browser extensions.

Let’s start by looking at the first option. For this, you will need a personal computer with a keyboard and an Instagram profile. Let’s get started.

Using a screenshot

So, to copy a photo without additional programs, use the simplest method – the Screenshot function. The algorithm of actions in this case is not difficult:

1. Go to the official website of the social network Instagram.
2. Log in using your username and password. Your login can be your mobile phone number, nickname, or email address.
3. Find the picture you like in the feed and scroll the page so that it is centered when taking a screenshot.
4. Press the “Prt sc” or “Print Screen” key on your keyboard. It is usually located just above the arrow keys.
5. Open “Start” and launch Paint. It is located in the “Standard” section.
6. Press the “Ctrl+V” combination and paste the screenshot into the photo editor.
7. Click on the “Select” option and highlight the image you want to save.
8. Right-click and use the “crop” button to remove any unnecessary fragments.
9. Save the result in jpeg format.

Note. The print screen key copies the screen capture to the clipboard. You can share it in social network dialogs (such as Vkontakte) using Ctrl+V, without even downloading it to your computer.

Through the address bar

Let’s move on to the second method – a life hack. You need to:

1. Open the Instagram webpage and log in.
2. Find the desired image and go to the profile of its author.
3. Click on the same image. This will open it in a separate post.
4. Click on the URL bar. It is located at the top of the browser below the tabs and looks like this:
5. Add the text “media?size=l” without quotes to the existing address.
6. Confirm the request by pressing Enter.
7. Right-click on the photo and select “Save as…”.

Done. Choose the future location of the file and download it to your computer.

Through the page code

The third method allows you to download a photo through the page source code in your browser. It won’t cause you any difficulties if you follow the step-by-step instructions. They are as follows:

1. Go to the website and find the desired photo.
2. Open it in a post from the blogger’s profile who published it.
3. Right-click on the image and select “View Page Source”.
4. Press the Ctrl+F keys and type “display_resources” in the search box that appears. Click Ctrl+G and the desired phrase will be highlighted.
5. Copy the entire link from ” to “2.cdninstagram.com”.
6. Paste the address into the URL bar in a new tab and press enter.
7. Save the image by right-clicking on it.

Important. This method does not work in all cases. Sometimes instead of the photo, an error “Access Denied” appears.

Third-party applications and services

Let’s figure out how to save photos using various online services and extensions. If you plan to use only an extension, then note that you need to:

1. Launch the browser and go to settings.
2. Open the “Extensions” tab and click on the search bar.
3. Enter the query “Instadesktop” and install the appropriate utility.
4. Return to Instagram and open the desired image.
5. Tap on the icon in the form of a downward arrow.
